This tiny Mississippi River town in western Wisconsin draws visitors along the scenic Great River Road (Highway 35). Located between Wabasha, Minnesota and Alma, Wisconsin, Nelson connects via Highway 35 north-south or Highway 10 from Wisconsin's interior. The village sits on dramatic river bluffs with continental weather that freezes the Mississippi in winter. The historic Nelson Cheese Factory in its red building has been crafting artisanal cheeses since the 1940s.
