Nekoma is a farming community of 22 people in northeastern North Dakota, about 15 miles from the Canadian border. Take Highway 5 west from Langdon or drive north from Devils Lake via Highway 20. The town sits in wheat country with harsh winters and brief summers. Its claim to fame is the nearby abandoned Cold War missile defense site with its distinctive pyramid-shaped radar building.
