Neck City is a tiny Missouri community of 193 people located 15 miles northeast of Joplin via Highway 171. Most visitors pass through on their way between Joplin and Carthage, though some use it as a quiet rural alternative to Interstate routes. Joplin Regional Airport sits 18 miles southwest. The town got its distinctive name from early settlers who built on a narrow "neck" of dry land between two creeks.
