Nampa anchors Idaho's Treasure Valley about 20 miles west of Boise along I-84, which provides the main route in and out of the city. Highway 55 heads north toward McCall, while local roads like Franklin and 12th Avenue connect to neighboring Caldwell and the broader metro area. The city sits on the high desert Snake River Plain with hot summers and mild winters. Nampa's historic train depot still serves Amtrak's Empire Builder, one of Idaho's last passenger rail stops.
