Myrtle Point is a small timber town in Oregon's coastal mountains, about 20 miles inland from Coos Bay via Highway 42. The town sits where the South Fork Coquille River meets the main stem, surrounded by forested hills. Highway 42 is the main route, connecting west to the coast and east through the mountains to Roseburg and I-5. The Coos County Fair has run here every August since 1919, making it one of Oregon's oldest continuous county fairs.
