Mulga is a small Jefferson County community of about 600 people, located 15 miles southwest of Birmingham via I-65 and Highway 269. The town sits in Alabama's rolling foothills with typical Southern subtropical weather. Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport is about 20 miles northeast. Highway 269 serves as the main corridor, connecting to Bessemer and other nearby communities, while I-65 provides access to Nashville, Montgomery, and Mobile. The Cahaba River, one of Alabama's most biodiverse waterways, flows just east of town through protected bottomland forests.
