Mowrystown is a Highland County community of 510 people located about 60 miles east of Cincinnati via US-50 and Route 138. The town sits in Ohio's Appalachian foothills, accessible from Columbus via US-23 south to Chillicothe, then US-50 west. One of Ohio's last active one-room schoolhouses still operates here.
