Mountain is a tiny farming town of 100 people in far northeast North Dakota, eight miles from Canada. Reach it via Highway 18 from Interstate 29 near Pembina, about 60 miles north of Grand Forks. The massive grain elevator towers over the flat prairie, visible for miles across the surrounding wheat fields.
