Mount Pleasant is a small city of 2,230 people located 25 miles northeast of Charlotte in North Carolina's Piedmont region. Take US-29 north from Charlotte through Concord, then NC-73 east to reach downtown. The most popular route for Charlotte commuters follows US-29 and I-485, about a 30-minute drive. The city centers around the historic Mount Pleasant Collegiate Institute building, which operated as a Lutheran women's college from 1859 to 1933.
