Mount Olive is a small Mississippi town of 1,100 people in Covington County, surrounded by pine forests in the state's south-central region. Highway 35 runs through town north-south, connecting to Interstate 59 about 15 miles east for longer trips to Hattiesburg or Meridian. Most traffic is local, with residents making short trips to nearby Collins or Seminary. The town is home to Mount Olive College, a historically black institution founded in 1951.
