Mount Clare is a tiny farming town in central Illinois, about 45 miles southwest of Springfield via Highway 104 and Highway 4. The main route from St. Louis uses I-55 north to Carlinville, then local roads west. Highway 4 is the primary corridor connecting the area to larger towns like Carlinville. The town's historic grain elevator towers over the surrounding cornfields and serves as a landmark visible for miles across the prairie.
