Mound Station is a tiny Brown County community of 150 people along the scenic Illinois River valley. Take Route 100 north from Beardstown or connect via I-72 for the most direct access. Most residents commute locally to Beardstown, about 20 minutes south, while longer trips head to Quincy for major services. The town gets its name from ancient Native American burial mounds that once covered the surrounding river bluffs.
