Mound is a tiny Louisiana community near the Mississippi River, about 15 miles from Vicksburg via Highway 65. Most visitors pass through on the route between Vicksburg and Monroe, with the nearest airport in Vicksburg. The town sits in rich floodplain farmland and gets its name from ancient Native American burial mounds that once marked this river valley.
