Montrose is a lakeside community of about 4,000 people in Wright County, 40 miles northwest of Minneapolis on Lake Minnetonka. Highway 12 provides the main connection to the Twin Cities, while Highway 25 runs north-south through town. The city attracts daily commuters and weekend visitors drawn to the lake's recreational opportunities. Montrose is home to the historic Minnetonka Drive-In Theater, one of Minnesota's last outdoor movie venues operating since 1955.
