Montpelier is a small Indiana city of 1,500 people in Blackford County, about 60 miles northeast of Indianapolis. State Road 18 runs east-west through town while SR 1 goes north-south, connecting to Hartford City and other regional communities. Most residents drive west to Interstate 69 for longer trips to Fort Wayne or Indianapolis. The 1894 Blackford County Courthouse downtown features a distinctive red brick clock tower.
