Montpelier, the Bear Lake County seat, sits in southeastern Idaho's farming valley at nearly 6,000 feet elevation. US 89 runs right through town, connecting south to Logan, Utah and north to Wyoming's Star Valley. The restored 1892 Opera House downtown once hosted traveling vaudeville shows.
