Monticello is a small Iowa farming town of 4,000 people along US Highway 151, about 30 miles northeast of Cedar Rapids. Highway 38 runs east-west through downtown, while I-380 provides interstate access 25 miles west. The area features rolling prairie farmland with a continental climate. The 1902 Jones County Courthouse with its red brick clock tower dominates the historic downtown square.
