Montgomery is a small East Texas city about 50 miles north of Houston, reached via I-45 to Conroe then Highway 105 west through Sam Houston National Forest. The historic county seat sits in rolling, wooded hills where 2,500 residents enjoy mild winters and hot summers. Montgomery was briefly the capital of the Republic of Texas and is where the Lone Star Flag was designed in 1839.
