Montague is a lakeside town of 2,500 on Michigan's west coast where the White River flows into Lake Michigan. US-31 runs right through town, connecting it to Grand Rapids 45 miles southeast and Muskegon 15 miles south, while Route 120 heads east-west to neighboring communities. The area gets serious lake effect snow in winter but enjoys cooler summers thanks to the Great Lakes. The old railroad depot downtown now houses a museum showcasing the town's logging days.
