Montague is a small farming town along Interstate 5 in far northern California, about 15 miles from Oregon. The community of 1,500 sits in the wide Shasta Valley, surrounded by distant mountains and serving as a stop on the main Pacific Coast corridor. State Route 3 branches west toward the Trinity Alps, while I-5 connects north to Yreka and south to Redding. Mount Shasta's massive 14,179-foot peak dominates the southeastern horizon, visible from virtually anywhere in town.
