Monroe is a small Iowa town of about 2,100 people located 30 miles southeast of Des Moines on Highway 14. Take I-35 south to Highway 14 east from Des Moines, or connect via Newton and I-80 from other directions. The town sits in rolling farmland typical of central Iowa's agricultural region. Its restored 1890s courthouse still anchors the historic town square.
