Monroe City is a small farming community in northeastern Missouri, about 30 miles from Hannibal and the Mississippi River. US Highway 24 runs right through town, making it an easy stop between Hannibal and Columbia. The Mark Twain Dinette has been serving classic diner food since 1952 and still displays its original neon sign.
