Monona is a small Mississippi River town in northeast Iowa, connected by Highway 18 east-west and Highway 76 north-south. The main route crosses into Wisconsin via the Prairie du Chien bridge, while Highway 9 provides access to larger cities inland. The historic downtown preserves several 1800s buildings, including the old bank with its original pressed tin ceiling.
