Monmouth is a college town in Oregon's Willamette Valley, about 15 miles west of Salem via Highway 99W. Western Oregon University anchors this community of 11,400, surrounded by rolling farmland and vineyards. The main route from I-5 goes through Salem on Highway 22, then south on 99W. Campbell Hall on campus dates to 1869, making it one of Oregon's oldest university buildings.
