Mingo is a small farming town of 328 people in central Iowa, about 25 miles east of Des Moines. Take I-80 east to the Colfax exit, then Highway 117 south into town. Highway 14 runs east-west through Mingo, connecting to Newton and other rural communities. The town sits in classic Midwest corn country, and a restored 1920s grain elevator still dominates the skyline.
