Millport is a small county seat in northwestern Alabama's Lamar County, home to about 1,400 people. State Route 18 runs directly through town, connecting west to Hamilton and east toward Tuscaloosa via US 43. Most visitors arrive from Birmingham (about an hour southeast) or from Mississippi via US 78. The town centers around its historic courthouse square, which still serves as the hub for county government and community gatherings.
