Milan is a small railroad town along Interstate 40 in western New Mexico, about 80 miles west of Albuquerque. The community of 2,300 sits at over 6,500 feet in high desert country, connected by I-40 to cross-country routes and served by the nearby Grants-Milan Municipal Airport. The town developed around the railroad and maintains its transportation heritage with both the interstate and Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks running through it.
