Midway South is a small valley community about 15 miles southwest of McAllen, reached via US 83 west to FM 1016. With around 2,300 residents, it sits in flat agricultural country near the Mexican border. The subtropical climate brings year-round warmth and mild winters. McAllen Miller International Airport is 20 miles northeast. The town got its name from being midway between McAllen and Rio Grande City on the old valley highway.
