Micanopy is a tiny historic town 15 miles south of Gainesville on US 441. Most visitors take I-75 to Exit 374, then follow SR 234 west to US 441 south. The drive from Gainesville takes 20 minutes through Paynes Prairie. Founded in 1821, it's reportedly Florida's second-oldest permanent settlement, with antique shops lining a main street of 1800s buildings.
