Miami sits in northeastern Oklahoma near the Kansas and Missouri borders, about 90 miles from Tulsa via Interstate 44. The Ottawa County seat of 13,000 connects to Joplin (20 miles northeast) and other Tri-State communities through US Highway 69 and State Highway 10. The restored 1929 Coleman Theatre downtown still operates with its original Wurlitzer organ.
