Miami is a small copper mining town in eastern Arizona, about 80 miles from Phoenix via US Route 60 through the Superstition Mountains. The highway connects it to Globe three miles east and provides the main route to Phoenix, Tucson, and New Mexico. At 3,400 feet elevation, it stays cooler than the lower desert while maintaining Arizona's dry climate. The massive Pinto Valley Mine's terraced walls tower over the eastern edge of town.
