Merrimac is a small Wisconsin River community of 570 people, reached via Highway 78 and the historic Merrimac Ferry. Most visitors arrive from Highway 12 near Wisconsin Dells or from Interstate 90/94 via Highway 113. The free seasonal ferry, operating since 1844, carries up to 15 vehicles across the river.
