Merrill is a farming town of about 850 people in northwest Iowa, 25 miles northeast of Sioux City on Highway 3. Most visitors drive Highway 75 north from Sioux City, then take Highway 3 east through open farmland. The massive grain elevator, standing since 1902, serves as a prairie landmark visible for miles.
