Merna is a small farming town of 383 people in Nebraska's Sandhills, reached via Highway 2 about 20 miles northwest of Broken Bow. The area features rolling grasslands and a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. Broken Bow Municipal Airport is 20 miles southeast for air travelers. The town preserves a historic one-room schoolhouse that served the community from 1886 to 1967.
