Mendota is a tiny historic town of 200 people where the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers meet, just 15 minutes south of Saint Paul via Highway 13. Most visitors are Twin Cities locals exploring the river valley or checking out Minnesota's first permanent settlement from 1826. The 1835 Sibley House still stands as a reminder of the town's fur trading origins.
