Mendota is a small Illinois city at the crossroads of I-39 and US Route 34, about 85 miles from Chicago. The interstate makes it easily accessible from major cities, while Route 34 connects it east-west across the state. It's known as the "Sweet Corn Capital of the World" and hosts a popular Sweet Corn Festival each August featuring corn picked fresh that morning.
