Mendota is a small farming town in California's Central Valley, about 35 miles west of Fresno via Highway 180. Most visitors arrive from Interstate 5 through Los Banos, then take Highway 180 east into town. The area is known for cantaloupe and other crops, with endless agricultural fields stretching in every direction. During late summer harvest season, the entire town smells like ripe cantaloupe.
