The area features rolling hill country and experiences typical central Texas weather with hot summers and mild winters. Most traffic consists of local ranchers heading to Brady for supplies, though the route also connects San Angelo and Austin via US 83 and US 190. The town's most notable landmark is its historic stone church built by German settlers in the early 1900s.
