Meeker is a small farming town about 40 miles east of Oklahoma City, reached via Highway 18 from Shawnee or Highway 99 from Chandler. Most visitors arrive on the short drive from Shawnee, while locals make regular trips to Oklahoma City for work and shopping. The town sits at the intersection of two state highways in Lincoln County's agricultural heartland. Meeker hosts an annual Watermelon Festival each August, featuring contests with locally grown watermelons that can exceed 100 pounds.
