Meade is a small farming town in southwestern Kansas that sits along US Highway 54, about 30 miles from Liberal and 35 miles from Dodge City. Most visitors arrive on US-54, which connects east to Wichita and west toward the Oklahoma border, while State Highway 23 provides north-south access. The town of 1,300 serves as Meade County's seat amid endless prairie and agricultural fields. Its claim to fame is the underground Dalton Gang Hideout, where the notorious outlaws once hid during their 1890s crime spree.
