Mead is a tiny farming community in southeastern Oklahoma, about 15 miles northeast of Durant via Highway 70 and Highway 22. Most visitors arrive from Dallas-Fort Worth using US 75 north to Durant, while locals make daily trips to Durant for services. Durant Regional Airport sits 20 miles southwest for air travelers. The town's 1905 one-room schoolhouse still stands as a piece of local history.
