McLean is a small Texas Panhandle town of 800 people on historic Route 66, about an hour east of Amarillo via I-40 or old US 66. The surrounding High Plains stretch endlessly under big skies, with hot summers and harsh winters. Most visitors come for Route 66 nostalgia or stop while traveling I-40. The town's claim to fame is the Devil's Rope Museum, featuring the world's largest barbed wire collection.
