McLaughlin is a small county seat in north-central South Dakota, 15 miles from the North Dakota border. US Highway 12 runs east-west through town, connecting to Aberdeen (130 miles) and Lemmon (35 miles). State Highway 20 provides north-south access to Mobridge (60 miles). The 1909 brick Corson County Courthouse dominates the main street as the area's most prominent landmark.
