McKittrick is a tiny Missouri River community of about 90 people in Montgomery County, roughly an hour west of St. Louis. Reach it via I-70 to Exit 175, then Highway 47 north through farm country, or take scenic Route 94 along the river from St. Charles County. The town sits near Loutre Island, where the Missouri River creates distinctive wetland habitat around a large river island.
