McGregor perches on Mississippi River bluffs where US 18 meets the water, connected to Wisconsin by the Marquette-Joliet Bridge. Visitors arrive via US 18 from Prairie du Chien or follow US 63 north from Cedar Falls. The town of 700 sits along the Great River Road with Prairie Du Chien Municipal Airport just across the river. McGregor once housed the Ringling Brothers Circus winter quarters from 1876 to 1918.
