McFarland is a Dane County community of 9,000 people located 15 minutes southeast of Madison via US Highway 51. Most visitors take I-90 to Exit 160, then Highway 138 east to US 51 north. The town maintains its own municipal electric utility, a rarity in Wisconsin since the early 1900s.
