McDonald is a small Trumbull County city of about 3,100 people located between Youngstown and the Pennsylvania line. Route 46 runs right through town, connecting to I-80 about 10 miles south for longer trips to Cleveland or Pittsburgh. Most traffic is local commuters heading to Youngstown, 15 miles northwest. The city still has original steel worker housing blocks from its early 1900s company town days.
