McCune is a small Kansas town of about 300 people in Crawford County's rolling hills. Highway 160 runs right through town, connecting west to Pittsburg (15 miles) and east toward Girard. Most visitors arrive via US 69 at Pittsburg, then take 160 east. The area was once coal mining country, and old mine shafts still dot the countryside around town.
