McCook is a farming town at the intersection of US highways 6, 34, and 83 in southwestern Nebraska. It's the county seat and a natural stop for cross-country travelers on these major routes. The Republican River runs through the area, breaking up the otherwise flat prairie landscape. McCook was the birthplace of Senator George Norris, who helped bring electricity to rural America.
