Mazeppa is a farming town of about 1,000 people in southeastern Minnesota's Wabasha County, sitting along the Zumbro River amid rolling farmland. Highway 60 runs east-west through town, connecting to Rochester 30 miles northwest via Highway 52, and to the Twin Cities about 70 miles north. The town's vintage water tower features a painted American flag design visible from the highway.
